I am a little pissed off upset at the moment. This is not real estate related so if you are here for a real estate topic - well - Go away now! It's somewhat of a rant and somewhat of what I hope you would read and OPEN YOUR EYES!
Why is it that people think they are above and beyond the rules? Or are they just on Auto-pilot while they are driving a huge ass butt car?? What rules?
The rules of the road. And people wonder why there are mindless, stupid, uncalled for accidents... Well it's because people do not pay attention and think they own the road and that MOTORCYCLES and their riders ARE DANGEROUS??
HEEELLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOO?????
YOU Cause most of the problems in your CAR!!!!!
I ride a motorcycle. I took the motorcycle safety course so I could be a good and better rider. I FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE ROAD and THEN SOME!
I learned to drive defensively to defend and protect myself from mindless autopilot people such as the guy who could have caused a very serious accident today (in a car) if I had not been paying attention.
Scenario - I am wanting to make a left out of my office. I am waiting patiently for a break in the traffic. Someone coming from my left ,has traffic stopped waiting for him to make a left turn... I wait for an opening coming from the right to pull out.
I see my spot and have PLENTY of time to pull out- at least 12 car lengths. I pull out and shift into second and I stay at a slow steady speed so the guy to my south trying to make a left, can make a left and get traffic moving again (thank you sir for holding up traffic for me).
As a rider, we tend to ride in the 3rd LEFT part of the road for a reason but the WHOLE road of my lane is legally mine to use on a motorcycle.
Why am I riding to the left? SO YOU CAN SEE ME AND I CAN SEE YOU. So people who are backing out of there driveways can see me too.
So I am going to let the guy make the left in front of me (one good deed deserves a good deed back) and I double check my mirror and the idiot BEHIND me is passing me in my lane on the right!!!!! I look right at him and yell "What the $%^&* are you doing?" ( I know not very becoming but we ARE talking about MY LIFE HERE!!!)
He pretends he doesn't even see me!!! Then he gets in front of me and flips ME OFF! He had NO RIGHT to pass me on the right especially IN MY LANE -MY PART OF THE ROAD!!!!!!
Thank God I saw him and did not move over into the 1/3 right of my lane or well - let's just say I probably wouldn't be writing this because obviously he was on AUTO-PILOT and thought I was just an obstacle in the road.
Don 't make me or yourself a statistic. Follow the rules of the road and -you know what? that means SHARING IT WITH ME ON MY MOTORCYCLE. I have the same right a-way as you and follow the same rules!
Take yourself OFF AUTO-PILOT, follow the rules of the road. SHARE THE ROAD WITH ME EQUALLY.

It's amazing. It's the big vs. little "thing". I experience it all the time in my car. I drive a Prius. Big Suburbans / Denalis / Vans with aggressive drivers just roll over in my lane. I got pushed into the emergency 3 times in one week last month. JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT MY LANE! Don't even get me started! My blood pressure is up just thinking about it!~
Some people just don't care about the safety about motorcycle riders. I feel for you.
Valerie,
Be careful out there You can have the right of way and wind up getting hurt. Our daughter went off to college one year and talked me into letting her get a scooter. About a month later, she got hit by a careless driver and really got messed up.
Watch it.
Val - I'm with you. I ride, too. Only a couple of serious accidents. But, I agree wholeheartedly with you! Unbelievably, people really don't see us, or are busy attending to other things and only register with cars. And some people are just !!@@#s.
Vicki - it is that (big vs small) but it's more that we take for GRANTED when we are driving a car what we are doing and our surroundings and are on somewhat autopilot! It's crazy... Thanks for stopping by!
Russ -Every time I get on my bike I know there is an extra risk - but dangit people in cars are on auto=pilot. TIme to stop and smell the coffee -! Thanks for stopping in!
Wayne - ughhh I hope she is ok. It's crazy - most of us follow the rules and we see on a daily basis CARELESS drivers (motorcycles included) that are just on remote. SO easy to be on remote on that normal route home... Thanks for stopping in!
Don - knock on wood (where is that wood?) I have not had any incidents other than close calls that I have managed to avoid...I am not usually a complainer or ranter but man - he LOOKED RIGHT at me! I could have kissed him he was so close??? I am a big woman - how can you not see me???It's amazing how they DON'T see us.... Thanks for coming by Don.
Ok, I agree with almost everythign you said, But the far left lane is a passing lane, whether you're in a car or on a bike, if you see someone comming up behind you, you should get over....and let them pass. I am sure you are a very safe driver, but you drive a motorcycle out of choice....but yes, there are a ton of idiots out there, and you will have problems with them in a car or on a bike....
But, people in the left lane that don't get over when I am passing them really piss me off... My wife used to drive in the fast lane and have people pass her in the right lanes, and flip her off and she did not know why...I explained that the far left lane is a passing lane and she should stay in the lanes to the right o allow people to pass....after she applied that she said she noticed a drastic drop in her reciept of the bird...
just an oppinion...I hope this might help you see the other side....
RIck - Oh I agree with you BUT there was NO two way road - ONE LANE FOR each side. HE PASSED ME IN MY LANE on a TWO WAY ROAD!!!!!THERE IS NO FAST LANE!!! Believe me I agree with you on the FAST LANE - hate people who hang there Especially on a motorcycle! BUT this was a TWO way street like I said and he was NOT even in the shoulder!
I agree, sounds like that guy was an ass....I wasn't suggesting that you ride on that side of the road....Just adding to your rant...LOL...
Be safe! and dont be affraid to return the favor of someone flicking you off!...LOL..J/K
Rick - eheheh I know and You had an excellent point as well.... we are all at risk out there on the road, but gosh darn it people need to take it off auto-pilot! Thanks for coming back ;)
I followed him for 6 more miles - off his butt while he also did 10 miles UNDER the speed limit which irritated the hell out of the guy behind me who decided he was going to ride MY Butt because of the guy in front me..... amazing what you see, smell and hear on a bike that you don't in a car!!!!
Ricks confused. Belfair has TWO lanes one going each lane, the person didn't pass you in the RIGHT lane, they passed you on the RIGHT SIDE of YOUR lane.
Sorry to hear this. Such a bummer you have to worry about this stuff. Good job on your defense though.
Josh - I wasn't clear in explaining that he passed me on the RIGHT SIDE OF MY lANE!!! Thank you for clearing that up! Those are the correct words. I am stutterng I was so mad... I know I have to worry about it all the time and I do otherwise -well - it would have been bad... all bad.... I had my plan and was ready to excute if need be... thank god the other lane was still backed up behind the guy wanting to make a left...Just the look on this man's face like I was just a post in the middle of the road he had to go by.???!!?!?!?!??
You are right....It is amazing the number of idiots that are abole to get drivers licenses.....It's bizare....if you're over 18, you should have to atleast have a GED, or HS diploma and pass an IQ test to be able to drive in the USA...Sorry, I read the post the wrong way....LOL
Rick - no apologies needed - I was so hyped up over it too that my words were spewiing out there! It's clear in my mind how it went but getting down in words is difficult! More so how many just don't pay attention. How many really pay attention at an intersection when the lights green??? I bet they don' they just cruise through - ....
I have to comment because can't end comments on No. 13! No I'm not superstitious - just CAUTIOUS!
Valerie, we have to be so aware of the cycle riders because they are so hard to see! My daughter's boyfriend was cut off recently by a driver, had to lay the bike down and was pretty shook up and bruised, but okay! The bike was just recently restored and it was scratched and needed some repairs, but it could have been alot worse. Drivers please read Valerie's instructions and do not take them lightly!! Save a life!
Caren - I agree we can be difficult to see all the more reason for drivers to be more alert as well. And we as riders need to make sure we are not in a blind spot and are seen! I am glad he is ok and it could have been worse is right. We are always on our guard and ready to execute. But when people are driving cars they have become so used to it -they get lax and unaware of their surroundings and then wonder why there was an accident.
I am so glad you are okay. Maybe we should take some PVC pipe and stretch it out from your bike to show the other drives just how much road you are entitled to. Or some sort of light metal that will make a point if you get my drift...LOL- Dinah Lee
Valerie, I am so glad you are ok - I am so over stupid "me me" drivers. There are so many these days I don't know how we all make it home and back!
Dinah- I sure do get your "point" he'd have been sorry if I had put a dent in his door with my foot!course then HE would have been mad!
Jo - I agree - everyone drives on auto-pilot. I noticed it right after I took the motorcycle course - seriously made me open my eyes.
